Riga, Latvia

I went to Riga in Latvia over the weekend with eleven other students. It was one of the most amazing trips I've been on in a while. We arrived on Friday evening at around 1800 and almost immediately started getting ready for an evening out in the city. That was also one of the best nights out I have been on for the period I have been on my exchange. On Saturday, we had the privilege of being shown around by a local, so we saw the obvious touristic places but she also showed us some local markets which I fell in love with. We had lunch in the popular restaurant "Lido" and the food was delightful! However a few people ended up with pretty upset stomachs - not sure if it was the food or the alcohol intake from the night before! Anyway we then went for a wander around the city, had some cake in a little cafe and then decided to pop into a shopping mall to see if there was anything we liked. Hello again (again)

I admit, it's been too long since I've blogged. I've been in a new city, continuing my studies abroad. I'm currently residing in Helsinki, Finland doing the second year of my Event Management course. It's a lot of fun living out here. I've met people from all over the world: Mexico, America, Vietnam, Germany and more. It's amazing meeting all these new people, taking in the diverse range of cultural differences and learning new languages as well! I thought that the work load would be a lot worse purely because I am in my second year of University. However it turns out that - for the first half of this semester anyway - I have a LOT of spare time on my hands. I've tried to think of things to do in the outdoors but it's getting too cold so I'd rather stay indoors. I'm looking into things to do indoors but they're either too expensive or outside the city. So I think it's time to bring myself back to the things that I loved! Blogging,...
